1950's Housewife Challenge - Day 15

The challenge: You can't say anything negative about your husband ...to your husband...or to anyone else, about your husband. Also, you must say something that you admire or appreciate about your husband...to your husband...and to someone else, about your husband.

Genesis 2:18  And the Lord God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him."  In what ways are you a comparable helper to your husband?  God said here that it is not good for man to be alone, but our criticizing and nagging may make our husband wish to be alone.  Many women complain that their husbands don't communicate with them.  Actually men and women communicate so differently, that many times we don't recognize when they are communicating.  Make sure that you understand your husband's communication styles and look for subtle ways that he is communicating with you and praise him for those efforts.

Our challenge this week from Courtney is to make him a priority, your husband, that is.  "Ask him what his favorite dinner, dessert and drink are.  Be sure to serve him all three one night this week.  Bonus:  cook his favorite dishes all week long!"

Home Economics tip of the day:  Listen to Him:  You may have a dozen things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time.  Let him talk first.

This tip ties right into our verse above as well.  Allowing our husbands to talk first and not allowing ourselves to "rule" the conversation will give us many more opportunities to look for his communication styles and to understand him better.
