1950's Housewife Challenge - Day 11

The challenge: You can't say anything negative about your husband ...to your husband...or to anyone else, about your husband. Also, you must say something that you admire or appreciate about your husband...to your husband...and to someone else, about your husband.

Ephesians 5:22  Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.  Now, I know that this is a touchy subject, but please keep an open mind.  Just as there is abundant freedom in the submitting to the will of God, there is abundant freedom in submitting to the will of your husband.  This doesn't mean always saying "yes" without a thought, but it does mean that you can have open dialogue with your husband about a decision, knowing and supporting his ultimate decision.  Communication is very important here.  It is important to have a calm conversation about whatever subject is in question, discussing the pros and cons as well as your opinion.  Your husband's decision is the final answer, just as God's will is the final answer.  You can allow his decision, no matter what the circumstances, knowing that your husband is the one who will be ultimately responsible for the decision.  If it turns out to be the right decision, your husband will be so lifted up in his ability to protect and provide for his family and you will be so proud of him!  Even if it turns out to be the wrong decision, you then submit to him again by respecting him, not saying, "I told you so," and helping him clean up the aftermath, in love, just as Christ does for us when we individually make the wrong decision.

In an effort to catch-up to Courtney on Women Living Well, we are going to have two assignments this week and will then go forward with one a week for the remainder of the challenge.  Today we will add:  "Admire your husband.  Write [a] post and then show it to him!  He will smile!"

Home Economics tip for today:  Prepare the Children:  If they are small, wash their hands and faces and comb their hair.  They are his little treasures and he would like to see them playing the part.
